Pipe Relining: Fix Broken Pipes Without Digging

8:30
Summary

Pipe relining is the modern alternative to costly excavation. Watch our team reline a cracked sewer pipe using epoxy-impregnated liner that cures in place, creating a new pipe within the old one — all without digging up your yard, driveway, or garden.

Transcript

Pipe relining is a no-dig technology that allows us to repair cracked, broken, or root-damaged pipes from the inside. Today we're relining a 10-metre section of 100mm clay sewer pipe that has multiple cracks and root intrusion points. First, we clean the pipe thoroughly using our hydro jetter to remove all roots, debris, and scale. Then we do a CCTV inspection to confirm the pipe is clean and to take precise measurements. Now we prepare the liner — this is a fibreglass sock that's been cut to the exact length of the damaged section. We saturate it with a two-part epoxy resin that will harden to form a new pipe within the existing pipe. The liner is inserted into the pipe using an inversion drum that uses air pressure to push the resin-soaked liner through the pipe, pressing it firmly against the pipe walls. Once it's in position, we inflate a calibration tube inside the liner to hold it against the pipe walls while the resin cures. Curing takes about two to four hours depending on conditions. After curing, we remove the calibration tube and do a final CCTV inspection. The result is a seamless, jointless pipe within the old pipe. It has a design life of 50 years and is resistant to root intrusion because there are no joints for roots to penetrate. The whole job was done from a single access point — no digging required.
